EC MEDIA LAW AND POLICY
This book aims to give a
comprehensive account of the development and current state of European Community law and
policy relating to the media, in particular broadcasting and the 'new media' such as the
Internet and digital television, all issues of importance in the rapidly changing European
media markets. It includes an examination of the context in which the policy has
developed, including the role of the Council of Europe (particularly through its
Convention on Transfrontier Television) and the European Convention on Human Rights.
Key aspects of media law and
policy are covered including the revised Tetevis/on Without Frontiers Directive and the
'Information Society' measures, together with the recent Green Paper on the convergence of
telecommunications, media and information technologies. In order to provide a complete
picture the book also includes discussion of support measures for the media industries.
The book will be suitable for
use by undergraduate and postgraduate students in law, media studies and European studies
as well as being an ideal source of up-to-date information for media professionals.
