Structure of Accounts
A practical guide to
financial reporting and accounting standards
With a number of new
Financial Reporting Standards (FRS) coming into force in the last few years and more
likely to follow, this is a timely and accessible guide to understanding the role of
accounting information, its users, uses, strengths and limitations. The text compares and
contrasts the types of finance available to limited companies. The costs, advantages and
disadvantages of each are covered, as are the consequences of using different financial
options. The reader is shown how to conduct financial analysis using ratios and cashflow
analysis, and shown how this can be used as an aid to decision-making.
Required reading for the
Structure of Accounts module from the Diploma in Financial Services Management (DFSM)
qualification, administered by The Institute of Financial Services and jointly awarded
with the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). For
students without an accounting background. The Structure of Accounts module is recommended
prior to taking the Asset Based Working Capital Finance module which has been developed in
association with the Factors and Discounters Association (FDA).
