as a supplement to a principles of accounting course, college accounting course, or any
accounting course requiring introductory work with spreadsheets. May also be used for the
one-semester computerized accounting course when the instructor wants to expose students
to several different types of software.
This
project was developed to teach students basic spreadsheet skills they will need in the
business world. When students begin a job the first piece of software they will work with
is not a commercial package (Peachtree, QuickBooks) but a spreadsheet program.
Provides
detailed instructions for using MS Excel 97.
Chapter 6
provides a simple, straightforward discussion of creating charts and graphs,
including the use of the Chart Wizard.
Over
80 exercises covering all basic accounting concepts.
Half
of the exercises are duplicated from Horngren/Harrison/Bamber, Accounting 4/e.
Includes
solutions for half of the odd-numbered exercises.
The
student data disk in the book contains examples for how to set up the following items: general
ledger, basic income statement, five types of graphs, C-V-P analysis with a graph,
financial ratios, economic demand and supply analysis, microeconomic analysis of
profit-maximizing equilibrium, and using a macro to sort a range of data.
