This book
has been written by two lectures who have been teaching systems analysis techniques to
university students for a number of years. Not only have they been active practitioners
with first-hand knowledge of the techniques described, but have also developed effective
ways of getting their message across to students from a wide variety of backgrounds. The
book is based upon the way they teach, and comes across in an easy, friendly and
accessible style. It lays a firm foundation in analysis and is suitable for a wide range
of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The
techniques introduced include spray and tree diagrams, data flow diagrams, data modelling,
normalisation and entity life histories. The approach throughout is to introduce the
techniques by the use step-by-step worked examples.
